The 2021 Hike Schedule

All skill levels are welcome and we hope to see you on the trails soon!

 

All members and their guests are invited to join the Hiking Club on any of our exhilarating hikes.  With the exception of the any overnight trips, all hikes are FREE. 

Reservations are required now and we appreciate your support for this change (due to Covid-19). Please sign in using this site to reserve your spot.  All hikes leave from the Ironwood Club House.  Given Covid-19 guidelines, we cannot coordinate carpooling and leave it to participants to drive safely.

GO JOHN TRAIL, CAVE CREEK

Go John Trail is a 5.9 mile loop trail located near Cave Creek. It features beautiful wild flowers. Some of this trail does go through recent fire-damaged areas. Rated: Moderate – and shorter hike options available.  Please click on image for more info.

RENEGADE TRAIL, GRANITE MTN TRAILHEAD, SCOTTSDALE

This trail circuit meanders an 8.3 mile-loop (mostly flat terrain) and scenic box canyon with swings around a "Michelin Man" cactus and a magnificent crested saguaro  Rated:  Moderate/difficult.  Shorter hike options available (and good beginner hike).   Please click on image for more info.

SKYLINE TRAILS, BUCKEYE

This park and network of trails offers a great hike for everyone, from flat, easy strolls to quad-busting climbs. Tie 3 routes together (Quartz Mine, Skyline Crest and Lost Creek trails) for a fantastic loop hike and a short climb up Crest Summit for sweet views of the surrounding desert.

This 5.8-mile out-and-back trail features beautiful wild flowers and a comfortable, gradual climb through prime Sonoran Desert before taking a quick, steep peak trail to amazing 360-degree views of PHX and the Four Peaks Wilderness. Rated: Moderate/Difficult

PIPELINE TRAIL, LAKE PLEASANT REGIONAL PARK

Pipeline Canyon Trail is a 3.8 mile out and back trail with beautiful lake views.  This area has many trails and multiple trail options (i.e. rated easy/moderate, difficult) for hikers to choose from.  And so close to home too!  Please click on image for more info.

BLACK CANYON TRAIL, BLACK CANYON CITY TRAILHEAD

This trail is of national, historical significance, as it has been used since the times of pre-historic Native American travelers and traders. This trail provides various trail grades and elevation changes, desert landscape, saguaro forests and rugged canyons. Rated: Moderate/Difficult .

SPUR CROSS RANCH, CAVE CREEK

Spur Cross Loop is a 5.2 mile loop trail in the Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area that features a river and desert scenery that is often very lush, with giant saguaros and frequent creek crossings.  Rated: Moderate to difficult (with option to climb Elephant Mtn.)

FORD CANYON TRAIL, WADDELL

This trail offers a great variety of scenery and terrain through the White Tank Mtns. It can be hiked as a 6-mile out-and-back trail or as a 9-mile loop (via Willow Canyon & Mesquite Canyon trails). Challenging terrain, a waterfall and beautiful views.  Rated: Moderate/Difficult.

The Hotshots Trail is moderate/strenuous out-and-back trail at 7 miles and with 200+ carved stairs. The trail offers 19 memorial plaques - each about 1/4 mile apart - and is quite moving. Please bring extra water.  Please click on the image for more info.
